2011 San Juan, Puerto Rico

Located in Puerto Rico's financial district, this Italian fine-dining restaurant features one of our masterpieces ever done. When we were still working for LAB, the project's architect and his client hired us as design consultants for optimizing the ceiling structure. Later on, we ended not just designing but fabricated and installed the whole structure. It's composed of CNC-cut arctic birch multiply panel pieces strategically joined together at several points to create this smooth, sensual surface. The space is subdivided into three main areas: the bar/lounge, the main hall and the VIP room for private events. We developed the surface using Grasshopper and Rhinoceros to create a parametric model in which all details were taken into account, from surface modeling, panel subdivision, sub-structural elements to steel hardware and wood joint types.

This project was developed by Javier Olmeda and Oscar Ramos, with a team of professionals including Radamés Burgos, Robert Torres, Shanti Ramos, Edwin Coimbre, Jorge Martorell, Victor Figueroa, María Carrión, and Luis Carrión.
